'To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…' -President Wilson, November 1919
November 11, or what has come to be known as Veterans Day, was originally set as a holiday to honor Armistice Day and the end of World War I, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. But in 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, the word Armistice was changed to Veterans for those having served in any war. So today, when you get a midweek day off, dont forget to take the time to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good and all of you.
'A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.' -Joseph Campbell
