Spontaneously Amazing Adventure!

'Laughter is an instant vacation.'  -Milton Berle

I have to admit I feel a little spoiled this summer. I have had many traveling adventures, and they are not over yet.  But this past weekend was one for the books.  A dozen of us from church headed to the ocean for a weekend of camping on the beach, without a reservation we left most of the details up to God.  Truly a Spontaneously Amazing Adventure! Bodega Bay was a gracious host for a splendid weekend of fun, relaxing and truly enjoying the company of some amazing people!

We started the day on Friday at about 9a leaving from both sides of Sacramento.  A few last minute stops to fill the ice chest and pick up a borrowed tent and we were on our way.  A short 2.5 hour drive, a phone call, and a quick prayer (after striking out at 4 campgrounds) we landed a campsite, Christian owned at that.  Thank you Westside Park, we had a wonderful time and you were a gracious host for our college group!  And team Spartan did a great job getting the camp set up and ready for the next 2 cars to arrive.
The reward became an afternoon at the Beach! We enjoyed out time filled with wave tag, watching Micheal bury himself in the sand (I'll admit we did help a little), tree and rock climbing, and of course a wonderful amount of R&R. Then it was time to head back to get the campfire started (somehow without a lighter..oops).  We BBQ dinner and most importantly got out the S'MORES supplies!

On Saturday, we had to said goodbye to a few of our crew but before we did we got have some Jesus time together! Then it was off to the Wild Flour Bread Store in Freestone, Ca ...soooooo yummy! (& *bonus* they had coffee! :D)  We took our bread and our excitement to Dillon Beach for the day where MANY adventures unfolded!
Well first, there was ultimate frisbee on the beach, have you tried this? It is very difficult, add Justine's idea of battle of the sexes and FAIL! So in victory the men danced... well Frolicked really... AMAZING! And we needed a sit down task, so naturally built a sandcastle, but not just any sandcastle.  We built a sandcastle with plenty of wet water and that an ant would love.  ;) Our sandcastle had 5 stories, a bridge, a moat, a stone gate, feathers instead of gargoyles, and even a yard made from seaweed.   I have to say it was pretty fantastic! :) Especially when we jumped over it and then stomped it back into sand! Beautiful!  After lunch we needed to explore the dunes, so of course we played sardines. And before we left for the night we danced as the waves splashed at our feet.  Such a great day at Dillon Beach!
Once back at the campsite, we got the BBQ going, brought out Total Steel, the once wire hanger turned into the coolest spatula ever and Preston made us some really great burgers!  And as the night got colder the company only got closer and the S'more yummier! God was definitely present this weekend in Bodega Bay!!

On our way home we stopped in Petaluma for church at Calvary Chapel Petaluma with Justine.  A very welcoming church with a young congregation and fantastic worship! Even though everyone was in their Sunday best and I hadn't has a shower in 3 days, in fact I'm pretty sure most of us were still covered in sand from rolling down the dunes, I really enjoyed church.  Afterwards we headed downtown for some New York Style pizza where we met up with Miss Mia and more adventures, they seem to just follow us where ever we go :).  Sundays adventures included random dancing in the park, being "model citizen", sporadic outburst of singing in the streets, a Bodega Babes Man-Card presentation (followed of course by more frolicking),  and oh that love machine, where I've decided together we're all just a better combination,  that way its a mix of gooey, sour, bitter, fruity, sweet, and spicy!

Its just who we are... no matter where we are! <3
